Close Call
Today a bunch of my friends drove to Payson to stay at Josh and Jaimie Alston's cabin for the weekend. We left from Keirstin Paterson's house in her Suburban but ended up going back and switching cars and driving up in Brady Weston's Tahoe. Why? because we almost died! Okay let me explain....
We were on the Beeline headed north and had just passed the intersection at Shea Blvd. We were coming up to the next light and it turned yellow. Keirstin was driving. She started slowing down but as we got closer and closer to the car in front of us I started getting nervous, worrying that we weren't slowing down enough to stop in time. Just about that time, Keirstin says "Ya- we're not stopping." Appartently she was pushing as hard as she could on the brakes but we weren't slowing down any more. At the last second right before we hit the car in front of us that was stopped and the now red light, she turned left into the empty space between our lane and the left hadn turn lane. Then we made a quick right and went in front of the the 3 lanes of traffic that had just stopped and pulled into a gas station on the corner. Thankfully, we didn't hit anyone and no one hit us. The light had just changed to red so there weren't cars from the other direction moving yet. So we turned around and went back to Keirstin's and traded cars!
And that's how I almost died! Thank goodness no one was hurt! And thanks to Heavenly Father for watching over us and that we found out about that problem before we got into the mountains with big cliffs, because it seemed that the brakes worked fine if we were on level ground but as we were coming to the stop light we were coasting down a hill.
This is a picture of the gas station we pulled into after our close call. I snagged a shot of it the second time we drove by.
